Leadership Adventure Camp (LAC) 2019

Before the start of our second half of the semester, I have decided to join this leadership camp as a student leader. The rationale behind this was to relive my previous experience and also create new ones. The overall journey was memorable and meaningful as this is my last time being a student leader. Other than making new friends, my biggest takeaway from this would be that being a leader is all about empathizing and listening to others. One would never go far alone.
Peer Helper/ Year 1 Mentor 2019

Other than being a student leader, I was also chosen to be a peer and Year 1 mentor. A peer mentor is to help others who need moral support, be it personal problems or academically. I believe I was appointed because the lecturers recognise my ability to empathise with others. I am very honoured and grateful for having this opportunity.
My biggest takeaway would be learning how to listen to others rather than always giving them advice. I have learnt that there is no need for a solution as they just need someone to be their listening ear.
Compulsory Student Orientation Programme 2019

At the start of the year, I signed up to be a student leader for our annual freshmen orientation. It was my first time being one, and I found it hard to step out of my comfort zone at times. But eventually, I met a couple of people who will, later on, become my closest friends in school.
My biggest takeaway, other than friendships, will be understanding how to be an efficient and trustworthy leader. After the camp, my juniors came up to tell me that I have influenced them to become a student leader next time. It was heartwarming to know that. My journey as a student leader would not stop here.
